Certified translation basics
What is a certified translation?
A certified translation is a complete and accurate translation of an official document, accompanied by a signed statement from the translator or translation company confirming that it is a true and accurate translation of the original. It includes the date of translation and the translator’s full name and contact details, so the authority receiving it can verify it independently.
Certified translation UK →Is a certified translation the same as a sworn or notarised translation?
No. In the UK, a certified translation is the standard format required for immigration, legal and academic use. Sworn translations exist in some European and Latin American countries, where translators are appointed by a court. Notarisation is an extra step in which a notary public certifies the translator’s identity or signature. Tell us which authority will receive your document and we will confirm the correct format.
Do I need to send the original document?
No. A clear scan or good-quality photo of your document is enough to produce a certified translation. You upload it online and we translate from your copy. Some authorities may ask to see the original at an appointment, but that is separate from the translation.
UKVI, Home Office & official use
Will my certified translation be accepted by the Home Office and UKVI?
Yes. Our certified translations follow the Home Office requirements: each translation includes the translator’s confirmation that it is accurate, the date of translation, the translator’s full name and signature, and their contact details. They are regularly used for UK visa, settlement and citizenship applications, as well as by solicitors, courts, universities and the GMC and NMC.
UKVI & Home Office translations →Can I translate my own documents for a UK visa application?
We do not recommend it. The Home Office requires a certified translation that can be independently verified, with a statement of accuracy, the translator’s details and signature. Translations prepared by the applicant or a family member are frequently questioned or refused, which can delay your application.
Do I need to translate the entire document?
Yes. UK authorities expect a complete translation, including stamps, seals, handwritten notes and official markings. Partial translations are generally not accepted. If part of the original is illegible, we mark it clearly in the translation rather than guessing.
Do you translate documents for the GMC, NMC and UK universities?
Yes. We translate diplomas, transcripts, certificates of good standing and registration documents for healthcare professionals and students applying to UK regulators, universities and UK ENIC.

Ordering, delivery & security
How do I order a certified translation online?
Upload a scan or photo of your document, select the language pair and delivery speed, and receive your quote. Once you confirm and pay securely online, a qualified translator starts work and you receive your signed, certified translation by email.
Request a quote →Will I receive a digital or a printed copy?
You receive a signed and stamped PDF by email, which is accepted for most online applications and uploads. If the authority you are dealing with requires a printed hard copy, mention it when you request your quote and we will confirm the options available.
Are my documents kept confidential?
Yes. Your files are transferred over an encrypted connection, stored on secure UK/EU servers and only accessed by the translator working on your order. We comply with UK GDPR and delete documents from our systems 90 days after completion unless the law requires otherwise.
Which languages do you translate?
We translate a wide range of languages into and from English, including Arabic, French, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Italian, German, Russian, Urdu, Hindi and Chinese. Contact us with your language pair to confirm availability and timing.
